Eight lessons I have learned in my spiritual business...

Eight lessons I have learned after eight years in my spiritual business.
Last month I celebrated my eight year anniversary of doing what I do: Running a spiritual business, providing spiritual counseling & services and offering a multitude of courses & classes on spiritual growth.
Because it's been almost a decade of growth on both ends (mine and the clients), I have decided to share eight lessons, which I have accumulated over the years and learned along the way:

1) Community is important. And it will take time to build!
Don't expect it to happen overnight. The longer you've been doing this, the more likely you will have people who have known you from day 1 and been on your side for a long time. If you think what you do is not making an influence - it is. But you don't see it on your end until you get that confirmation. Sometimes years later. This can sometimes be in a kind message. Or in sales finally rolling in.
2) You will absolutely feel like giving up.
Not just once. Not just twice. But several times. They say the first 4-5 years are the hardest as 50% of businesses have given up at that point. For me personally, a few years were tough spiritually and physically. I had to navigate a lot of personal changes, stand in my power, ward off psychic attacks from others - you name it!
3) If it's your purpose, you will know it. And you will likely continue with it.
Yes, people build up businesses for different reasons. I still like to believe most do it because they were not fulfilled with what they were doing before (such as when having a corporate job, a life-changing event etc.). Whatever the reason is - if you are breathing and living it on a soul level, you will feel that every single day. Instead of a simple "business" it will instead feel like an actual soul purpose and lifepath ahead. One that you know is yours and that you were put into this world to fulfill.
4) You will need to try many things so see what works.
And oftentimes those things may change down the line. This applies on many levels. But mainly marketing-wise. The game has changed so much from posting once every other day on Instagram in 2017 to what it is now - platforms taken over by AI and other algorithm things. Since 2020 the constant censoring of certain platforms (ahem, looking at you - Instagram!) has really put a number on a lot of businesses. Especially the ones standing up against the 2020 agenda.
However, there are many ways a business can be run and marketed. Having your own mailing list is imperative (and I'm happy I have mine). So is the presence on other platforms. Some like to be interviewed by other people or channels. Yet others learn different ways to make it work. The game is always changing. Always evolving. On one hand this is what makes it interesting. On the other hand it can be quite frustrating and even draining having to always figure out what works and what doesn't.
Whatever side of the coin you are on, please know that is normal and it's always a learning curve.
5) The spiritual community can be absolute toxic!
No matter if it"s new age, truther or others - it is the one industry where people get the most triggered and will feel the need to troll or insult you the most. It is also the most cult-ish industry. This is one aspect I've never liked about the spiritual community (as you guys know at this point). People are extremely vulnerable with these topics and there are so many who take advantage of it.
I have yet to meet another industry that is more cult-ish and more triggered by what people put out there. But I am always up for a challenge!
6) If you're not growing, you likely won't be able to sustain this.
Growth in your own business is imperative! More-so than when working for someone else. Which leads me to...
7) You will be confronted with so many things when you try to make money on your own.
The full array is thrown into your face: Belief systems that are rooted in ancestry, childhood wounds and parental money attitudes. Bad marketing techniques. Online censorships that can really harm your existence. Trolling by others. You name it! (And if you want to know how to address ancestral blockages and root causes, this is the course I highly recommend!)
There is truly so much you discover on all levels once you start earning money for you and only you! (This applies to freelancers, too.)
8 ) Things take time.
Just like point 1 (community), building up something worthwhile and long lasting will not happen overnight. It takes a lot of time, effort, sweat, blood and tears... And anyone who wants you to believe differently is not telling you the full truth (looking at you, money mindset coaches with your half truths...). You will just need to be patient.
Statistically, half of all businesses actually give up around or before the 5 year mark. Why? Because most people start realizing how much effort really goes into it and they usually have run out of finances, patience or both by then.
It's sad but perhaps also liberating - knowing that you have tried to pull something off and live your dream. But of course the main goal is also to be financially sustainable and successful with it. Otherwise all you're entertaining is an expensive side gig or hobby...
I hope this helps anyone who is just starting off their own online business. Or anyone who is in the midst of it and wondering if it's worth it. Yes, I do think it can be, especially when it's your purpose and you can feel it in your pores. However, the frustration factor can be high. Especially in times when we don't see much growth and wonder if it's really ever going to pick up or be successful.
Success can be defined in so many ways. For some it's monetary. For others it's how many souls they've touched. And yet for others it's a completely different factor.
I hope whatever the case is for you, you find a way to make it work. Or learn a major lesson from your journey of entrepreneurship.
And if you're curious on how to build up your first (or second, third, x-amount of) online business, I recommend my course Next Level Biz to get you to where you want to be!
