Are you looking for that perfect relationship? The one person that will fulfill you endlessly? Well, take a good look in the mirror because that is the person you will be with until the end of days.
The only relationship that will ever matter is the one you have to yourself.
But what exactly does it mean to be in a relationship with yourself? Having a relationship with yourself involves more than just waking up with you and going about the day. It involves self-honoring, self-loving, self-caring. Working through triggers, shadows, pains and wounds. It involves seeing how others treat you and noticing how most interactions are a mirrored world, showing us back onto ourselves how we internally are treating ourselves.
The relationship to yourself won't just end from one day to another. Unless you choose to abandon yourself and listen to all the other people in your life, who like to give "advice" or tell you how you should be living your life. And even if that occurs, there is always a lesson in it.
A lot of people choose to abandon themselves for a marriage, friendships or a fake life they aren't truly living. But at the end of the day, the only person you will have to come home to is yourself. Are you existing or are you living? Are you honoring yourself or still avoiding parts of you? There is no right or wrong. It's just a valid question to ask no matter what stage of life you are at. Part of why 2020 was actually brilliant was because we were forced to spend time with ourselves. More-so than ever before. While some were thriving, others were challenged.
As the world is picking up again, let's not forget the introspective time we need with us every once so often in order to build up and maintain a relationship with ourselves.
